I'm a published wedding and portrait photographer located in a small town outside of Charlottesville. In addition to capturing beautiful images, I love spending time with my family, am freakishly good at word games (Hey Wheelmobile!), love an ice cold can of Coke or Dr. Pepper, know every line to Hocus Pocus and can never pass up a Chick-fil-A waffle fry or a trip to HomeGoods.

Welcoming Hensley Bernice

Hensley Bernice arrived on her due date, Thanksgiving! I honestly was hoping she’d choose any other day because I love Thanksgiving and was really looking forward to my turkey dinner, but she had other plans. I woke up at about 3 a.m. because my water had broke. When I called my parents to tell them, […]

Year in Review: 2021

Despite COVID still being a thing (seriously, go away already!), 2021 was a year filled with big moments, beautiful weddings, fantastic portrait sessions, a few styled shoots and so much fun. First, this is the year I welcomed my second daughter, Hensley Bernice. This girl came right on her due date, which happened to also […]

Christmas Cinema | Made-for-tv Christmas movies

Okay, let’s be honest. Cinema may be a bit of an exaggeration when it comes to one of my favorite things about the holidays–made-for-tv Christmas movies. Yes, I’m talking Countdown to Christmas, Falalala Lifetime, Freeform (still likely known as ABC Family to most of us), UpTv. You name it, I watch it. And I start […]

Back that thang up…

No, not that “thang.” The other “thang.” The unthinkable happened yesterday. I lost my phone! I’m not someone who is tied to their phone and I enjoy unplugging, however, losing it wasn’t part of the plan. I have insurance on my phone, so while it would be a pain to replace it, it’s something I […]

Building a Gallery Wall

For the past several months, I’ve been collecting frames to build a gallery wall. I knew where I wanted it and what I wanted it to look like, but actually building it was another story. For one thing, I didn’t have the right combo of photos to fill the nine frame setup I envisioned. That […]

Welcoming Hartley Grace

Just over three weeks ago, Hartley Grace entered our lives. I feel I should start off by noting that my labor and delivery experience is not the norm, so if you’re thinking about having children or even awaiting the birth of your first, please don’t let my story scare you away. That said, I had […]

Shoot and Share Photo Contest | 2017

Like 9,999 other photographers, I entered photos into this year’s Shoot & Share Photo Contest. The contest is held each year and is based on peer voting. It’s nice because photos are uploaded into categories with each photographer allowed a maximum of 50 entries and then once voting begins, they are randomly grouped into grids […]

Foodie Friday: Strawberry Cupcakes

The best part of picking fresh fruit is turning it into something delicious. I recently used a portion of the fresh strawberries I picked a few weeks ago at Chiles Orchard to make fresh strawberry cupcakes. They were delicious! I found a recipe for easy strawberry cake via Pinterest from a site called “Call Me PMC.” […]

When it rains, it pours…

If you read my most recent Travel Tuesday post, then you know a few Sundays ago, my husband and I were in a car accident. Thankfully, no one was injured and it wasn’t our fault (please yield before making a left turn!), but what we thought was a fairly easy, yet expensive fix to my […]

Mother’s Day Musings

Has anyone else noticed that people look at married, childless women a little weird on Mother’s Day? Like maybe there’s something wrong with them because they don’t have children? While yes, I am 30 and married, I don’t currently have children and I don’t currently wish I had children at this exact time. While I […]
